Acorn House is situated in a quiet residential area of Swinton, Manchester, which can be easily accessed from the M60 M62 & M6 motorway network.

Acorn House provides a stable and secure base for young people to address their difficulties and take appropriate responsibility for their lives and actions.

The aim of the home is to provide an atmosphere of ordinary family life within a residential setting and to establish trusting relationships between staff and young people. We place a significant emphasis on establishing firm but consistent and fair boundaries to meet the needs of the young people.

The staff at Acorn House are committed to working in a child centred approach. The team have been recruited on their previous professional experiences and motivation to provide quality care. The staffing ratio is one adult to two children with an experienced team leader always on shift.

All staff have undergone a comprehensive induction package and will have completed the induction and foundation training over the first six months. This is complimented by further training to meet the requirements of the Care Standards Act 2000 or workshops to address any specialist needs that a young person in placement presents.
