Kemp Lodge is an eight bedded house set in landscaped grounds in Birkenhead, The Wirral. Although Kemp Lodge is only a few minutes from the motorway exit, it is situated in a quiet residential area which offers tranquillity yet is within easy travelling distance of all modern amenities. The house itself is set in its own substantial grounds on a leafy road near to Birkenhead Park. It is easily accessible and can offer the children and young people a chance to integrate with the community. Our aim at Kemp Lodge is to provide for children and young people aged 10 – 17 years on admission, who have experienced family breakdown and trauma. We aim to create an atmosphere in which the child or young person feels relaxed and secure enough to review past experiences and explore any unresolved feelings especially connected with separation from their own family or carers. Our ultimate aim is to support each child or young person re-integrate with family or foster care, or preparation for independent living. The staff at Kemp Lodge are committed to working in a child centred way. The team have been recruited on their previous professional experiences and motivation to provide quality care. The staffing ratio is one adult to two children with an experienced team leader present. All staff undergo a comprehensive induction package and will have completed the induction and foundation training over the first six months. This is complimented by further training to NVQ 3 standard in line with the requirements of the Care Standards Act 2000 or workshops to address any specialist needs that a young person in placement presents.
